YO! we are off abroad next weekend (swiss alps seeing as you asked) and im thinking of taking my HTC with me to keep in touch with email (we are moving house the week we come back :s)

Am i correct in thinking, if i hold the power button, and select "turn off mobile network" there is no reason i should get billed for being abroad at all. they shouldnt even be able to tell if i do it before we go?

(i THINK the difference between this and airplane mode is that APM also restricts wifi, and gps etc)

i'm thinking i will be able to get onto some coffee shop wifi every now and again and just check over emails. Skype too i guess :s

any knowledge appreciated 🙂

you are correct, but why not just turn if off?

id also turn off allow data when roaming, its in setting somewhere,

as if you turn your phone on and just want to make a call/see if you have any texts come through you will not have to pay data charges for all your apps updating (facebook, email etc)

as above I'd just suggest switching off international data roaming.
