You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The eldest FlyingOxJr has shown repeated interest in mine and the wife's Garmin watches, but he's only 10 and I don't want to chuck a whole lot of money on something he might fall out of love with after the novelty has worn off. Conversely I don't want to get a cheap tat one where he'll fall out of love with it because of the cheap tattiness. Is there a reasonable middle ground?
Does he have a device to run an accompanying app?
If so, Fitbit software (UI and how it interprets the data) is very good IME - and worth the premium over a cheaper device.
He's got an Android tablet but no phone yet - we're trying to hold off on that until he heads off to high school.
My son had a cheap Amazon tracker and it was rubbish. Strap kept coming undone, step count was erratic and all in it it was a waste of £25. On the other hand my nephew has one of these and it looks really good - https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/711538/pn/010-02441-03
