I'm often going between meetings at work, chatting to people and being given tasks or coming up with ideas etc. I either try to remember, or I write things on bits of paper which I don't like doing.
So if I had a tablet for this, what kind of apps would I be looking at to help me generally be organised? I never really thought much for stylus based note taking, my handwriting is shocking and I always found it hard to scrawl on touch screens, but maybe things have improved in recent times. So perhaps one of the Samsung tablets with a pen might be a good idea? Or maybe I could try and get hold of a Note for my work phone.
We have proprietary email and calendar apps for work which can't be linked into other email type apps unfortunately.
What do you use?
We use iPads with Word or Pages on for note taking.
Direct sync with our Windowz platform in real time for Governance.
I use Evernote for basically everything. Means I can make the notes on my iPad then see then and react to them on my desktop. It works a treat.
Evernote or one note is designed for this sort of thing, allows you to share them, organise them and update them on almost any platform along with syncing between all your devices.
I've got one note for Android, and whilst I use it, it doesn't seem that great in some ways. I am able to quickly add unfiled notes, but then going on to organise them seems annoying - and on the phoen you don't seem to be able to move it all around, add links, images and all that stuff. I dunno, just seems like work to use somehow.
If you have a stylus, does that work for any text input fields...?
google keep on android and windows desktop is blimmin brilliant.
I'll often use a notebook or even scraps of paper, then use camera on phone and Evernote to take a photo (takes seconds). Does a pretty good job of recognising text and I can then tag the note or add some more stuff to it. Seems to work better for me than trying to do notes directly into a tablet.
I use google keep, not professionaly just as a general to do list/scrap book etc.
Guy at work has a new 10 or 12" iPad with a stylus. Very accurate combined with the large size means drawing diagrams and taking notes is possible!
Paper is supposed to be excellent for note taking, sketching, etc, and they make a pretty nifty stylus to go with it, called Pencil. Looks like one of those big flat carpenters pencils.

That's just crazy, it'll never catch on.
Google Keep. It's a flippin' marvel. Much like Evernote but far less faffy.
Santa brought me iPad Pro for Xmas. I intend to use it for note taking at work when meeting staff. I'm waiting for a cheap stylus coming as the Pencil is on a 5 week wait. Pages does look very impressive but I've also found Memo which converts handwriting to text so it'll be handy for reports.
For mind maps SimpleMind pro.
It's about £5.
No good for anything else than them but its a lovely tool if you like that sort of thing. I used it for studying for work exams last year.
I imagine iThings have a similar function to google keep. So you can use a finger to scrawl a quick note?
Stylus is so 90's unless you are a graph artist or something?
Trello for simplicity

That's another way of saying 'you're a stupid idiot'.
So thanks.

This is the key bit. If you can't get the stuff easily onto your work machine (I know that's not what you said, but it is implied from the above), then you end up with digital work in one environment which you can't transfer to your core work machine. I've been there and have multiple t-shirts.
If you can get a seamless digital workflow then Evernote + Trello + Lucid Chart is a good combo.
Hmm.. yes.. good points..

I can write smaller with a stylus than my finger as fingers tend to be fatter than a stylus.

The iPad Pro + Pencil is a truly wonderful combination. I've wasted hours in the Apple shop in Glasgow just drawing and mucking about.
I'm finding it hard to resist TBH
likewise, especially as I've just been watching videos of people using the Astropad app to "run" Illustrator & Photoshop on the iPad Pro. Also been using Procreate on my normal iPad and reckon it would be amazing with the Apple Pencil!I'm finding it hard to resist TBH
Ask your info security people before using anything! Things like Google Keep and Evernote are banned at my work due to the cloud syncing. We use Ipads but can only sync stuff via Exchange and secure PIM app.
Obviously your work policy may differ!
🙂
That's another way of saying 'you're a stupid idiot'.
Really? A proven way of taking notes that has worked for centuries is now somehow stupid?
It's not that. It's the fact that he recommended something he knew I'd already be aware of and would have already used. Which is another way of saying that my question is without merit.
You wrote " I either try to remember, or I write things on bits of paper which I don't like doing."
That doesn't sound like a nice organised A4 notebook to me.
Also if you need to write down a lot in meetings, then the old fashioned way of getting an junior type person to take minutes really is a pretty cost effective way of doing things.
