No milk in the fridge this morning so I ferreted through the cupboard and found some coffee mate. The date on the bottom says BBE 04/2007.
I broke up some of the big lumps and proceeded. I should be ok. Shouldn't I?
Let's hear about your iron stomachs and out of date products...
You'll be fine.
But make sure you post a PSA if you do die....
Kudos for diving straight in and worrying about the consequences afterwards.
I hear the risk of dying from drinking black coffee means you definitely made the right choice.
Best Before Date - meaningless (and I think they've now been outlawed)
Use By Date - should be called 'use your judgement from this date'. But you may die.
We are working through a household full of out of date stuff now (long story). 2007 is nothing to worry about with dried stuff like coffeemate, though some things might be a bit stale/tasteless. Just opened some mayonnaise which was "best before" 2009, it's fine. Though after opening, I wouldn't keep it that long!
The white flour that "seemed to have a bit of brown in it" - ie was crawling with weevils - was the worst thing we've found so far.
Just drink it black - after a while you'll wonder why you ever put milk in tea or coffee!

I fancy a bit of the 'Yoghurt Dressing' on the left hand shelf, personally.
