I need a couple of 256GB drives for FLAC file storage. Are they all the same or not quite. Doesn't need to be super fast but reliable and well made would be handy.

Obviously Currys/Argos is pricey but what is a good website to buy stuff from? (that's not Amazon)

Ta.

Don't know much really, but certainly there are high endurance ones recommended if you're constantly over writing ie CCTV footage, they tend to be more expensive.

They’re different. Some are reliable. Others not.

I’ve tended to go for Lexar, Kingston, and Sandisk for cameras. Of these I find Kingston most reliable. Their Canvas Go ones work well and are fairly priced. Available as SD or microSD. I’ve tended to go for the latter as they’re more versatile. You can buy them direct from Kingston for about the Amazon price https://www.kingston.com/unitedkingdom/en/memory-cards/canvas-go-plus-microsd-card

I just recently got a couple more Kingston ones. One for a 4th gen iPod to replace its broken HDD by using an iFlash ATA adapter. Nice to have it working again: music without the iPhone faff.

Go Sandisk or go home. Life's too short to faff about with no-name storage.

Use a reputable seller (ie, not ebay). There's probably more counterfeit SD cards and USB drives out there than real ones.

I've had a metal Kingston one for years so would recommend.
The metal body is good for putting it on a keyring as well as the plastic ones can break and fall off your keys.

Don't buy them from eBay and pick a reputable seller if on Amazon. Many many fake drives out there.
