The evangelical cult "Paz do Senhor Amado" ("Peace of the beloved Lord") in the interior of Brazil forbids its followers to use any USB technology by contending that it uses a symbol that shows sympathy for the devil.
According to its founder, the "Apostle" Welder Saldanha says that this is just another symbol of Satan, which is always present in all Christian homes.
"The symbol of that name (a name which he doesn't even like to pronounce) is a trident, which is used to torture souls that go to hell. Use only a symbol of those shows that all users of that vile technology are actually worshipers of Satan" - explains the" Apostle".
Measures were taken so that all the USB connections of his followers were exchanged for common connections and even the Bluetooth (sic), which according to Saldanha Welder is permitted, for "Blue was the color of the eyes of our savior Jesus Christ".
"Blue was the color of the eyes of our savior Jesus Christ".
I bet he stood out a bit, then.
There was me thinking this was going to be a rant about you not getting anywhere near the claimed 480Mbps data transfer rate when backing you your PC's hard drive externally...
No such oddity of course... 😕
Let me get this right: they base their assumption on an arbitrary symbol?
Well I'm going to have to smash up my laptop in a ceremony...i don't want to be brainwashed by servants of the devil through my USB ports.
Jebus must have stood out from the crowd as a middleeastern chap with blue eyes...although I understand he gave the odd prophecy so wasn't afraid of the attention probably.
must have stood out from the crowd as a middleeastern chap with blue eyes
well those and the Mexican name.
The teeth of the Lord were blue?
Anyway, someone should tell that guy that the bluetooth symbol is a rune, being from the writing system of a bunch of HEATHENS!

Given it was originally developed party by Apple and first featured on the iMac, they may have a point...
MG - no email?

Er, no, that's Firewire you're thinking of. USB is an Intel invention, IIRC.
Religious fanatics behaving irrationally? Wow, that's never happened before.
I sent to the mail in your profile...
Never ceases to shock me; the jaw dropping ignorance and stupidity of people who take religion too seriously.
you'll never find anything crazier than a christian
