Depends if the drive is spinning up, if it's not it's going to cost you...

I'd try a different housing first, borrow one or buy a cheap one.

I did one last month.

A friend's laptop drive lost it's partition table. Popped it into a usb cradle, then used MiniTool Partion Wizard to rebuild/restore the table. It appeared to do that, but instantly lost it again when powered down. So I got another empty drive and cloned the partition onto that. The new drive held on to it fine. Dissertation saved.

Take the drive out and put in another caddy / internally in a PC.

Failing that, Recuva.

Learn from this, take backups.
