Hey All..

I'm having a brain melt moment..

I've just bought a usb external hard drive for my tab but it needs more power than the tab can provide.. can someone advise what usb lead would be best? I'm guessing a Y lead of sorts?

They say there's no such thing as a dumb question, but this may just be the exception to the rule 😉

Yes you want a Y cable, something like this but making sure you have the right connectors. Then you will need a USB power supply to plug into.

and I'm assuming the external drive didn't come with some means of powering it other than a single USB lead?

I've just binned a Y lead - send me your address and i'll pop it in the post for you - it's got a mini, rather than a micro connector on though....

You've got an OTG cable to connect the two, yes?

Thanks all,

So to answer the questions, the hdd came with a usb 2 lead only..

A micro usb would be great Rubber B, that's the connection to the hdd and yes, I've got an OTG connector, had one for a while as I use it to connect my garmin to it 🙂

An alternative would be to plug a powered USB hub or OTG USB Hub into the tablet and plug the drive into that.
