I suspect the Passat would be more practical around town.

True. But I suspect that you could park the MIG anywhere.

[controversial]Skoda. I'd rather walk[/controversial]

Passat tourer = safe, reliable and acres of space. Is it actually up against anything normal?

Nah. Passat or Mondingo when The Mighty Vectra finally dies. Unfortunately it appears to be immortal.

I'd go Mundaneo if space is a factor. They're harryungous inside. 🙂

Boot in the mondeo estate is a lot better than the VW. But Usain Bolt is not in the extras list.

Got driven all over Czech Republic last year in a selection of Skodas. Got crippling back ache.

No not at all, there are plenty of overpriced Audi's and Beemers out there. I've owned all of the above cars mentioned and if I need space, comfort and economy the Mundano wins hands down.

Vectra is like being wafted about in a silk net full of breasts compared to the Skoda. Was temped to get out and walk from Prague to Lutin as it is only 280 km

If passat, then only 58+ plated ones. Earlier ones pre 2008 had problems with injectors, oil pump drive shafts and electronic parking brake housings. All that had been redesigned in later models.

Mondeo will win in boot size hands down, but its not as economical or well screwed together as Passat. IMHO.

Skoda Octavia are almost same as passat, and priced same as passat like for like but interior is ghastly old age.
