... without resorting to all that tedious 'Flickr' nonsense.

Can we do this yet?

You have to host the image somewhere....

Pick your poison of where you want to do that from.

Instagram works quite well these days

Uploading "direct" to where?

A photo hosting provider of your choice?  Yes.

STW?  No.  Never could and probably never will.

Is this a genuine query or just a lazy troll?

Use  https://postimages.org

It avoids all this Flickr nonsense.

EDIT....

It's a shame that the stuff that fixed all that flickr nonsense in the early stages of the update seem to have been turned off, you could post nearly any kind of flickr link and it would work for a while

We could allow you to upload images to our servers but we don't because we don't want to be found hosting your grot.

And you know as well as I do that someone would.

Not a matter of whether it "works" it's a matter of whether STW wish to host your images with all the costs and risks involved. As Mark has posted - they don't.

Yeah exactly.

"Direct" to this forum,  obviously, Goocar. Yes it is a genuine query. No it's not a lazy troll.  What's the matter, swallowed a miserable git pill today?

As for that other unhelpful misery...

At least Drac offered  something useful instead of 5th form sarcasm.

Feh.

Get Hinge and Bracket to take you in hand.

Make a change from their current solitary manipulations.

Just use Postimage.org to host your "grot". Uploading and linking couldn't really be any flipping easier.

Yes it is a genuine query. No it’s not a lazy troll.

Then, my apologies.  It's so hard to tell these days.

At least Drac offered something useful instead of 5th form sarcasm.

I answered your question.  Was that not useful?

The problem with Flickr, at least on mobile devices, is selecting the whole link, I’ve found that you could select the visible text, but it wouldn’t allow the text to scroll to the end or give a ‘select all’ option, which is a PITA, and from what I’ve read Flickr can’t be arsed to fix it, they seem to be almost opposed to letting millions of iOS devices access photos taken with them.

Postimages or whatever it is, is about the least hassle I’ve found.

Just have a “button” pointing to the url on your phone - it more or less acts like an app then.

Scroll down, click on the button to the right of the “hotlink for forums” and it automatically copies it to your clipboard. Then go through the shite of trying to insert that paste into STW’s dialog box. Only takes a minute or so once you’ve got used to it.

Yeah, cursor in the top  left of the dialog and you get the Back.. Reload.. Save As... right-click menu. Surely that can be sorted easily enough?! (Aracer?)

I prefer shift+insert (it's from my Dec Vax days) but really, I shouldn't have to (and that doesn't answer my question. I'll put it on the forum update thread.)

@Woppit - it's really easy to make pics smaller and less erm, in your face 😆

I daresay.

Although on my device it's only slightly bigger than the one of the interesting young ladies... what are you using?

The point of the picture was to amuse, by highlighting the labelling, hence the close-up. I don't quite understand your second point? 🤔

Yes, it worked! Seemed like a good thread to hijack as a practice. Tried photobucket and Instagram before with no success.

Here's a picture of apoplar hawk moth I found on the locker room at work. There's been a few of them over the past few weeks. Frigging massive!

Edit - that ended up smaller than in the preview!! It was a big moth, honest!
