Over the last few months I have come to realise that STW is actually the fount of ALL knowledge!
So who can help me update my galaxy note 8 from android v7 to something more recent like 9, 10 or even 11.
I have zero knowledge of how to do that when the phone won't do it automatically, and anything online says flash this and that ROM and i have no clue
I hav found somewhere to download updates but no idea if its a clean install or patches or incremental updates.
Or do i have to chop it and buy a new one?

Thanks all

I thought Samsung had put out an update to 9 at least. I take it you've tried Settings/Software Updates/Check For Updates?

Yes, that's what Samsung says, but mine is stuck on 7, and checking for updates tells me mine is up-to-date. Don't know how to force the update, and get to 9. And whether that's worth it as note8 not getting further updates anyway.

Is it locked to a mobile network? Might explain why there are no updates even though Samsung have released them.

Not locked to a network.

Some ideas on getting it updating as it should...

Not enough free space? It needs at least a gig usually.
Try wiping the cache partition.
Try checking for updates from safe mode.
I'd backup the phone and try a factory reset if me.

Looks like the last security update (Android 9) was this August, so worth doing IMO.
