You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
We're in the middle of a row of ex-council houses built 1969/70. They're all clad with white plastic boards. I'd like to update ours in due course - it dates the house and looks a bit dull. Does anyone have any experience of what sort of restrictions might be in place regarding changes such as this?
Also, any good ideas/websites to look at? I'm struggling a bit with visualising how it might look with e.g. wooden cladding, or painted, or something altogether more interesting! Being mid-terrace, and all the others being white, we might end up with something that sticks out for the wrong reasons!
I'm also considering whether we might get some external insulation done at the same time, as there's no cavity to fill.
TIA 🙂
Nuke plus orbit equal only way to be sure
a picture would help.
tHmmm, that isn't an option at this juncture unfortunately, we live in it 😀
EDIT: the nuke that is, will look for a pic
wait and see what they do to the southbank centre and then copy that.
If it's ex-council there might be a covenant in place that means you need to request permission before making changes. Check your deeds.
Check out any local green energy groups, they might be able to advise on external insulation. Something has changed of late regarding this, to supposedly make it cheaper. Some are looking for guinea pig properties to act as show homes, & they will install for free. Your looking at est £4k depending on finish if you just get someone in.
External wall insulation and a render finish. Render can be various colours and textures. Depending on location and energy supplier you may be eligible for a Greendeal fund.
Check out www.k-rend.co.uk for different render finishes
Thanks will check deeds and look at rendering options. Being mid terrace seems to be the tricky bit as anything we stick on the wall will need to be both congruous and presumably flush so it doesn't stick out beyond next door too far.
