What size?

Also what spec?

They vary in price from about £500 to £2000. Not sure of the fitting cost.

I have always used combi systems, as there is only be and Mrs, but the house we moved to a couple of years ago had one fitted. It's excellent, much better than the combi's but we do have a large solar panel set up and any spare electricity is diverted to it.

I had no idea they had different spec's.
It'll be about 100cm's tall if that helps.

Have a look here.

Might give you an idea of supply cost.

Sounds smallish. We've got a couple of Megaflo tanks that are about 1.6m high and hold 200/225L.
Either way, I'm a big fan of unvented systems, especially if there's a few of you in the family.
Look on eBay for used tanks (indirect if the water is heated by the boiler and direct if it's just an immersion system) as you can get a bargain. Fitting costs vary but it needs to be done by someone who's qualified to install unvented systems.

They're illegal to DIY fit (I think) - steam explosion risk, insurance, etc.

Ebay seconds, buyer beware, might be on ebay for a reason, just saying.

Not seconds, a working system that's been uninstalled by someone who wants something bigger or different.

I've bought £1200 tanks for £100 and they're working fine 7 years on.

Yep as above. I'd be looking for an installer with the correct qualifications to install an Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems (UHWSS). It will also need to be notified to your local building control (like gas appliances) or the installer may be able to self certify through the likes of Gas Safe.
I personally only supply and fit these.
