OK so this is NOT a complaint about ads on the website, and no I'm not a premier user, but is there a fix to the unresponsive scripts on STW which constantly crash my laptop? My CPU fan is going haywire also, not sure if that's related. Windows 7, Firefox...
Again, not a complaint, but it's becoming virtually impossible to use the forum without having to hit escape constantly to stop things trying to load which inevitably then freeze. Doesn't happen on any other websites.
(and Cougar if you're reading this then yes, I appreciate the irony of bitching about Windows 10 yesterday and complaining about fixing bugs in Windows 7 today... 😳 )
has been slow the past couple of days
I haven't noticed any difference, on W7 or on Android
on OSX I'm having to kill Flash pretty often when on STW - its been a problem for a couple of weeks. Probably a wonky ad but I've not really paid attention as to which one.
Similar here, on w7 laptop and chrome on android 6.0
OK thanks folks, I've set it to 'ask to activate' as couldn't find a specific 'block on this site only'.
Seems good so far...
Yep, problems here, too. Regularly stalling/crashing on page loading.
isn't that, you know, like ... that thing we don't talk about ? The block that dare not speak its name 😳TL;DR - Stop Flash from autorunning.
Just installed 'Click to Flash' on safari - doesn't make anything disappear ad-wise but loads HTML5 in favour of Flash so things like youtube videos in threads display and function normally. If it can't load anything in the place of flash it displays a button to click to load that content. No sign of a button yet on any pages so whatever flash content is causing the woe either isn't visible content or is replaced by HTML5 without causing the problems flash does.

No. Just go to the Add-ons page in FF and you'll have three options for Flash.
Caused Chrome to fall over regularly today.
Rather than users having to fiddle with web broswer settings, how about STW fix the problems on their website? Nothing else I visit causes as many problems as this site.

Don't be silly. Everything is fine. Would you like to buy a Maserati?

Flash? The Reverse Flash has been trying to kill him for the whole of this season!
I reported it as a problem on Edge, was basically told tough luck.
And yes, very crashy, can't wait for addons to go live for Edge so I can block all the crap ads. Yes I said it. No I don't care. I'm sick of trying to be reasonable about this.
I run "Click to Flash" and "Java Script Blocker" on Safari, which stops Scripts eating up the CPU and slowing down pages.
Yeah just disable Flash, life tastes sweeter.
I have the same problem - STW crashes my browser at least once a day - usually just as I think of my only witty comment of the day!
If I check my resources as it crashes I see that Firefox and Flash_pluggin are both using about 500mb of memory each, so consequently my aging laptop dies along with the browser.
Only course of action is to come back 15 minutes later when the dust has settled.
The annoying thing is that at the moment its an automatically running video advert encouraging me to "buy a Bentley" that seems to be the culprit.
If I had the money to buy a Bentley . . . . etc etc
1) if there's a rogue advert, please report it to tech@singletrackworld.com - they have the ability to do something about it, no-one else does.
2) read the thread.
As I just posted on the other thread, beta users may be noticing changes in FF's RAM usage.
FF also has a memory leak in some environments. Quit and restart, perhaps reboot*.
