How easy is it to get done and how much does it normally cost.

Been offered a mobile which is legit (girlfriends boss is selling it as has had a free upgrade) but locked to Tesco Mobile and i like my Vodaphone PAYG.

Help please

depends on type of phone. Can sometimes be done yourself with older models, more likely £10-20 at a shop.

A quick google finds:

Seems websites that will sell you a code may be dodgy and that you may be best to go to operator who phone is locked to.

The LG Viewty is a complete pain to unlock. I paid for a unlock code from one of the internet unlock sites but they were unable to calculate what the code should be. Got my money back no problem though.

I then managed to download unlocking software for free and it kind of half worked. The viewty was on three and now works with vodafone as well but not o2. The software also reset the IEME number of the handset.

Best advice is to take to a shop and stump up the cash for them to do it.

Keith.

give your local phone shop a ring and ask if they can do it, most will do in store (even som,e carphone warehopuses can unlock phones) for anything £10-30, or you could look on ebay as there used to be places that charged a tenner or so + special delivery cost and you sent the phone off to them and two days later its back all done!
