Got an old phone sat in a draw that's password protected. It wants the password for my Gmail account, which I am inputting but it remains adamant it's incorrect (it definitely isn't, but I guess the password has changed since the last time I used the phone.)

Can this be unlocked at a dodgy shop? I think there might be some photos on there is like to see again.

You can usually flatten Android phones? Unless your goal is to get some data from it.

Do you need to unlock it or are the pics saved on a micrsd card?

I've had old blackberry phones opened when I've forgotten a password at one of those small unlocking/ phone spares shops for a few pounds.

Surely that’s the point of having a password set up.

I know I know, not much help!

If it's old enough to not be encrypted then there's a chance you can access the storage partition in the boot loader.

Google will be friend to find out how, if it's possible. My memory of doing things like this is a bit sketchy, but I'm pretty sure I've done it in the past.

Anything reasonably new ish will be encrypted though.

Is it asking for password once the phone is actually on and started? If so have you tried plugging it in to usb?

Is the wifi or data switched on? If it is, it should connect to Google and get the updated password.

If the phone is old enough it might not support Google OAuth2 login.

Try creating an application password and entering that instead!

Surely "I've forgotten my password" will allow you to reset it through Google.

Plug it into a PC via USB. If not encrypted you'll get to see the photos, music, documents folders. Not emails and other things in app data, but likely most or all of this stuff will have been synced to the cloud.
