I'm in need of a universal remote to control my Samsung flat screen, Sky+, DVD player and a Sony CD/iPod player. Oh, and I've got one of those 'green' remote control power off multi-way plug extensions in the post. So that's 4 items + the power adapter. Does that count as 5?
What can you recommend that will not break the bank given that an elastic band to strap all my current remotes together is free?
Ta
my sky plus remote did the samsung telly and dvd player easily enough...
We had a logitec one, faff to program (much easier using a PC) but once setup you could press a button and it'd turn off/on the right things in the right order (i.e it knew the TV was on and you were watching a DVD, so when you press Xbox it turned the DVD off and the Xbox on, switchec the TV over etc).
Logitech Harmony stuff. Ive got the cheap 555 and its great. If you can afford the touch screen stuff I believe you can record some pretty advanced macros to do stuff.
I like lining all the remote controls up in front of me on the coffee table and pretending that I'm the captain of a spaceship.

Logitech Harmony stuff is great. I went for the 900 as it has a touchscreen but also real buttons (including red/green/yellow/blue which is very handy for Sky).

AFAIK the only reasonably-priced system which will work with a reasonably-priced remote is the X10 home automation system. I did a load of research a couple of years ago when I was setting up something similar at home and X10 was the only workable solution that didn't cost silly money.
