Here’s a thought. Or two.
If this country ever became a republic, would it still be ‘the United “Kingdom“‘ ?
And if so, what would the national anthem be?
Jerusalem, Flower of Scotland, Land of my Fathers, and NI would inherit the Irish anthem.
Needs to be unity to be United. So one for each constituent part.
Or perhaps we’d do a Yugoslavia and split into constituent medieval parts - Northumbria, Mercia, Wessex etc. Sorry, been watching The Last Kingdom 😉
Would of course require a Trump style wall between Yorkshire & Lancashire 😉
Where ‘ast tha bin since ah saw thee?
The monarchy has nothing to do with our political future, just something people like to bash on about
It is more likely to become disunited shortly. 🙂
The idea that the english would ever get rid or the royals is hilarious... well, atleast for the next few generations.
As a Republican, I don't think the name has to change, it just takes on a historical meaning. We probably don't need to distinguish ourselves from Britanny any more, but we still call it Great Britain. It's not like anyone says Iceland should change its name because it's not all ice, or that Turkey should change its name because wild turkeys don't live there any more.
the way it's going it won't be the Kingdom bit that needs revision first..... United, Great, and 'Britain and Northern Ireland' all look at more risk.
Ah yes. ‘Jerusalem’...
A first verse consisting of four questions, the answer to each one being... no.
Would of course require a Trump style wall between Yorkshire & Lancashire
Yes please.
The only good thing to come out of Yorkshire is the M62.

Needs to be unity to be United
This.
The words United Kingdom should be dropped , it’s meaningless. United ? What ?? And Kingdom means nothing without a description of the Land it occupies. Great should be dropped too, it’s a pointless filibuster description proclaiming an image larger than it too occupies.
. United, Great, and ‘Britain and Northern Ireland’ all look at more risk.
the 'Great' doesn't mean what people seem to think it does so that not a worry. It simply distinguishes this island from 'Little Britain' which is Brittany. And 'Britain' is still Britain whether its one polical entity or hundreds.
And if so, what would the national anthem be?
I'm torn between the theme tune from the Flumps and the theme tune from Garden Force.
I'd also suggest a new processional music for state / parliamentary occasions
Yes to a republic, no to 'United', and the Benny Hill Show music!
The only good thing to come out of Yorkshire is the M62.
The M62 is a good thing? The best thing to come out of Yorkshire is obviously me 😊 and like any proud Yorkshire man I now live in a different county
The M62 is frequently a very bad thing 😉
It's certainly true that the label attached to a country is allowed to be a lie.
"Democratic Republic of..."
If the country has that in it's name it's not a democracy, and it's leadership will be somewhere between a dictatorship and a dynasty where the leadership is passed down the generations within the family... which is pretty close to the description of a monarchy.
The M62 is frequently a very bad thing 😉
The M62 is the meeting place of the Lane Two Owners' Club. I've never known a road like it. The best way of making progress is to sit in the first lane with the cruise control set to 70mph and undertake droves and droves of vehicles for miles.
People's Democratic Republic of Corbyndia?
Britain is derived from Briton, where Britons live.
NI won't adopt the 'Irish' anthem, I assure you 😆
As long as the monarchy are keeping their heads down while looking busy change will never happen.....
Perfidious Albion or something ending in 'stan'?
