Anyone use one?

I just thought it might be a good way to be slightly less sedentary whilst I am working and not riding.

really? I thought these were just one of those crazy inventions you see on advertorials rather than something people actually buy! please post a video if you do end up getting one 🤣

why not just set at alarm to get up for a few mins walk & a stretch every hour, even if it's just to get a cuppa or a have a piss. Or get a standing desk which would actually help a lot more and not look ****ing ridiculous 😂 Both of which will do your body more good than just putting the same muscles through a very limited ROM over and over.

There must be an upmarket possibly Nordic STW - version waiting in the wings?

An oak watergrinder...? Add pedals and a double the price I reckon it’d be a goer... 😉

Connect it to a dynamo and you could use it to power your pooter...

I have to confess I thought that water grinder was a spoof, rather like artisan firewood, but it looks like it may be a real thing!! 😀

Just get any old thing as you are destined to be in the next iteration of this:

You'd be better off getting up off your backside and doing bear crawls around the office every ten minutes. IMHO.

Could you rig it up to a generator and from there to a heat pad that keeps your coffee warm 😕

Ex girlfriend's disabled mother had one.
Fine for getting your legs moving but the intensity you could achieve on it would be of next to no use to most on here.
Needs more resistance, way more, and I think the desk sitting position may be too different to the bike sitting position to be able to put any meaningful power through it.
As above, Zwift and suitable laptop table seems a better bet

I've always wondered about a static bike linked to a generator to power the TV. Sub-conscious exercise instead of lying out on the sofa night after night. I've been to a couple of pedal powered cinemas over the years (groovy movie at glastonbury festival for example), where a rack of 4-8 bikes have to keep pedalling at a reasonable rate or the power dips. Great idea. I looked into it once and there seemed to be a few home-made/bodges about.

I do all that stuff. I make excuses to walk to the shop for example, and I am riding most days. But my job required I spend a lot of time sat here stationary. There's no room for a standing desk.

Not as a substitute for riding, obviously - I am still riding 5-6 times a week and Zwift racing etc. It's just a way to add calorie expenditure to the day. But then again, if I've been arguing all this time that weight loss is down to balance of hormones, then it'd have no effect on that.

sounds like you're already doing all you can then (which is probably more than most who are desk-bound) bar get a different job as a labourer, etc.

As a weight loss strategy, doing a tiny bit of extra low-intensity activity is probably the least effective thing you could do, sure you already know that though. Just skipping a couple of rounds of toast or spending 5 mins doing sprints/HIIT would be way better.

There’s no room for a standing desk.

Get a height adjustable one, then you can use it either standing or sitting on your chair. Or set it up to follow your height so that you can use it whilst doing squats and working on your computer.

And thats why I dont think a pedalling thing would be good for you, because it would encourage you to do less mobility stuff ie I've been spinning my legs all day so thats ok.

The only healthy thing to do is get out of your chair.

Im just trying to get out for a walk every day, which is proving difficult.

Bought one years ago but soon found by the time you set it to enough resistance to give you a work out it was really grabby (there's no flywheel) and didn't find I could really use it 'automatically' whilst with watching TV or working I would just realise I'd stopped pedalling after a couple of minutes :p It's been gathering dust in the garage ever since.

If there was an upmarket version with a flywheel it would be better but still not sure it would be useful whilst trying to focus on something else.

Let's not drag this out again!

Get a height adjustable one,

Can I get height adjustable shelves to move all the crap above my head out of the way and somewhere else whilst I stand up? 🙂

Why not just a laptop stand for your turbo trainer?
