Did I imagine that someone managed to unblock a pipe using an airshot?
Our loo at the shop is going down slowly post flush, the manhole is clear so obviously a hindrance twixt loo and main drain.
The potential for disaster is huge so I'd like to know what happened.
I can arrange a pay per view if the demand is there!

Remember those pics you’ve seen of people covered in sealant?  You’ll be like that but it won’t be sealant 😀

TBF it will probably work really well (or possibly too well!). To get it to work though you'll need a decent seal on the bowl, which means you might as well get one of these instead:

Without enquiring about the exact nature of said blockage, it might be worth squirting a liberal amount of toilet bleach into the bottom of the toilet and leaving it for a few hours. It worked for me recently as think it helped 'break things up.' 🤮

Can help to pour a bucket or two of hot soapy water into the loo if it does actually flush.

Possibly useful suggestion: plumber's snake?

I have one of these and it's decent

It's basically what a plunger does, on a slightly bigger scale. You could buy what was basically a can of compressed air attached to a rubber hood.

You'll need to find a way to direct the shot of air down the drain, not back into the room. Maybe an old towel wrapped around the airshot. If it works sell it as an airsh1t.

A bucket of water delivered from height or a mop in a bin bag normally do the trick.

A toilet brush in a bag is the right size strangely enough. Also don't get too carried away with pressure methods, the quickfit on the back of the pan is only held on by friction.

I did this with a blocked central heating pipe and track pump. It certainly cleared the black gunk - right up the wall and across the ceiling 😂 needed decorating anyway.

That. I've got one too, brilliant gadget. Clears stuff the chemicals wouldn't so I dont bother with chemicals now

I've got pretty much all of the above and also a drain cleaner attachment for the pressure washer.
That is by far the most effective but you have to be prepared for a mess as it is primarily intended to be used for outside drains.

Whatever you use, check for vents and breathers in the drain system before pressurising anything. Our sink in the utility room has a breather tube that I didn't see. Used the plunger and pushed about 500ml of water straight into the cupboard - doh. Wouldn't want to have used any more force!

Remember the air shot thing will be air at 300PSI ish, so if the drain is well and truly blocked a sort distance from where you are blowing into, the pressure might not drop too much as their isn't much volume. Could result in blowing seals, joints apart. Plungers don't generally generate anything like that sort of pressure without you noticing the obstruction first.

You guys are a bunch of party poopers. It's gotta be worth a try. Sure, it's a crap-shoot as to whether it works but if it turns into a busted flush, at least we'll get to take the pi$$.

Have you tried the clingfilm over the bowl method?
All you are looking for is a vaccum and push to forced anything in there all the way through.

Wrap a few layers over the top, give it a flush and when it stretches up like a dome give it a solid push down and it should force it through.

Examples on youtube

Use the head off a cheap plunger to create a seal in the pan, should work easily enough, connect air source to the plunger head by whatever method to allow air blast through and not "out"

Also don’t get too carried away with pressure methods, the quickfit on the back of the pan is only held on by friction.

Tie a loop of string round the Flange of the pan connector, and tie it tightly round the front of the pan base (I learned this method about 15 minutes after I ideally needed to! )

I normally shove a jetwasher down and it does the job - it’s worth covering the open bowl with a black plastic bag all nicely taped down to avoid any “blow back” 😂

How often do you have this issue for it to be 'normally'?

“How often do you have this issue for it to be ‘normally’?“

As often as our young delinquents (or their visiting friends) decide to flush toilet rolls, kitchen roll, dinosaurs, soft toys, lego or whatever else down the bog before having a massive carp and bog roll extravaganza session straight after that.

🏔🧻🧻🧻🦖+💩 = 🤬🤬😭😭😭
