Anybody used these and do they work?
Yes I know it is another animal thread.
One of my staff members who lives on site has two yapping dogs. I know they are surrogate children for the one he and his wife lost, and I am trying to be diplomatic about it, without turning into a mental anti-dog nazi.
I saw someone making ultrasonic dog cannons on youtube and wondered if they worked or were just a gimmick.
Not ultrasonic, but I used collars that squirted a jet of air at my two when they barked... something like THIS
You can get pure air or citronella. It just gives the dog a shock and makes them stop in their tracks for a second. Worked for me as mine just wound each other up with barking and these things broke the cycle.
Only had to use them for a couple of months.
had one of those collars for our dog. kinda did something, stopped him barking quite as much for about 2 days, then he saw a cat outside and barked for half an hour and pretty much didn't give a toss about the collar squirting him with citronella.
if it gets a bit much and comforting him doesn't help we normally stick a fabric muzzle on him. probably doesn't help his anxiety, but does help ours.
Someone near me must be using one effectively, I don't think I've ever seen an ultrasonic dog round here.
Not dogs, but.....I used to have a mouse problem in the house. My house mate wanted to use a humane of getting rid of them so bought some ultra sonic devices. I saw mice casually wandering past them on more than one occasion!
