4x4 estate. Ticks all the boxes for me.

Apart from the fact that half the world would think I was an arse, and the other, less appealing half would leave saliva on it.

Wonder if I can get a couple of bikes on the top of that?

Erm... I'll pass. Reminds me of the Jaguar Eventer:

EDIT: in the sense that it's a car that should never have left the designer's sketchpad.

+1 prefer the Jag.

Looks like a fast hearse, but think of the bikes you'd get in it. 🙂

Ultimate bike car? Well I've managed to fit 9 bikes and 4 people (including myself) in this:

It also moves pretty well!

The Ferrari is just a squished one of these

(or maybe a stretched one)

That Ferarri looks stunning.

Comments to the contrary passed so far in this thread strike me as slightly retarded.

It looks absolutely f*** all like a BMW, or a bastardised XJS, has finely sculpted lines and is a thing of beauty.

Of course I'd expect no less of STW....

I did ask Lotus if they did a roof rack for the Lotus Evora so I could put the bikes on the roof. They said no 🙁 Even when I asked about having a custom carbon fibre one made up. Guess I will have to do it myself.

Lotus Elanbulance - looks like a good bike car to me.

Andyl, I think this is the only thing that will fit the bill for a Lotus. I came across it a few years ago when I was looking for a decent rack for a Smart cabrio(!). Some minor drilling required, but rated up to 130mph apparently.

That rack's designed for an Elise/Exige rather than Evora - different body shapes...

Andy, have you tried the usual Lotus accessories specialist - Elise shop, Hangar 111, Eliseparts, etc...? Some of them do boot mounted luggage racks that you'd be able to fit a bike rack to but they have a weight limit of about 50kg (I think) tops. The Mk 2 Elise is less forgiving than a Mk 1 because it uses thinner fibreglass for the bodywork.

There's no way I'd drill holes in the bodywork of mine just so I could take the bike but I can fit my Scandal 26er in the front passenger seat with wheels and saddle/seatpost removed and strapped in with the seat belt. Not ideal but it works. Just. You must have more room in an Evora than I've got in an Elise...?

I like the look of the Amarok but a Transporter would probably be more practical.

I'd get stuck in a Transporter - and a nice one is more expensive than the Amarok.

Considering one of these too, as I have the outgoing model and it's been brilliant - the new Ranger isn't out until 2012 though and I'll be looking to replace around the turn of the year. At least by then the Amarok will have been road tested to find any faults...

At the boring end, I'm looking at an S-Max. Apparently you can get them with larger than average engines if you must, but the 163 diesel, which is good for 48ish mpg, looks good for the run to the Alps.

Transporter FTW!

Wipe clean plastic seats as well.

But I do like the look of the Ferrari - probably goes up hills a bit better than my van.

that M3 looks awesome (other than it being a BMW...). when i make my millions, i'm gonna convert a sporty car into a car-based pickup.

there is a guy with a holden UTE here in morzine - bit like this (but betterer)...

Volvo V70 AWD (S, T5 or T5R)
Mercedes E class estate (320, AMG or Brabus)
Audi RS6

That is all.

HAS to be a unimog.

It'll climb up any forest track, do your own uplifts, and you can sleep in it! Shame it won't get through any of those height restriction barriers you get at a few riding spots!

If they make a Thule roof box for it, they must make a bike rack....... :D[img] [/img]

Agreed.

I can't see the Ferrari being very reliable. And it does look like a stretched z3.

If you have to go Italian how about a Lambo?
[img] [/img]

Admittedly it's not quite as pretty as the Ferrari.
