I don't particularly like a lot of what I read about him* but sometimes in tweaking his ego, he does good stuff.
*Never met him and only read the press so cannot comment from personal experience
Impressive that individuals can do these things these days and we can all read about it.
Is this actually of any realistic help to the people of Ukraine? Can you access starlink without specialist equipment? or is this just another cave rescue submarine moment?
He has done what he can with the star link. It might not help many but it might help a few so yes it's worth it.
Me me me me me...
He is also sending receivers is what I read
And a submarine he had going spare
Relievers.
How should this be played? Just send to Ukranian forces to help their comms?
Presumably the Russians have decent comms but I expect communications from the average soldier to back home are restricted/monitored. Could some receivers be got to them somehow, a few messages back home might help undermine the Russian media stories?
Surely one of his satellites has a massive frickin laser on it that could surgically remove the troublesome boil at the press of a button.
I bet he has a Ukrainian woman to 'fire the laser' as well. From what I've seen of tooled up Ukrainians so far, every wannabe Bond villain needs a few in their underground lair.
I’ve got one sat in the garden.
You pretty much connect the dish to its base,a lead goes from that to another box ,wich plugs into the mains, which goes to the receiver/Wi-Fi router(v1).
Switch it on and use a phone app to set up the Wi-Fi ,it does a little dance and aligns the dish and your on the interweb, dead easy plug and play.
I could see it very useful if the comms infrastructure went down or taken over and restricted, very compact and discreet/portable.

What does it all cost?
What does it all cost?
In euros around 500 + 60 postage , 99 euros a month for around 170Mbps down and a 40Mbps up.
It’s not cheap, my local microwave based broadband is 30Mbps and 1.5Mbps up for 30 euros and 42 for a 100Mbps version.
(I can’t remember the speed of my U.K. virgin internet but tbh that wasn’t particularly cheap when I was in the U.K. tied with phone and telly.)
It’s probably cheap thou if your after a satellite based system, with the benefits it has(no reliance on local infrastructure/country), so I’m probably being unfair calling it not cheap.

doesnt sound too expensive for what it is.

Although how is he actually going to send them?
The country is at war, Kiev is surrounded by Russian Forces. I expect UPS isn't running....
Going to be very difficult supplying anything at the moment.
Although how is he actually going to send them?
Business rival Dr Evil Jeff Bezos has some Amazon Delivery Drones he can lend.
I believe he called putin a peado too
