Currently watching The Driver and enjoying, we also like Broadchurch, Line of Duty, Common & Luther. What have we missed this year on UK TV that anybody can suggest?

We have been watching Netflix and lost track of what was comming up.

Peaky Blinders. First series was brilliantly dark, violent and moody. Superb casting too. Series two kicked off on Thursday.

Wot's wrong with Scandi drama? Last night saw the end of 'Crimes of Passion' which was set in the 50's with a matinee idol as a tec.

Looking forward to the second series of 'The Fall'.

Hinterland was brilliant, Welsh Language detective drama. After all if we can all watch Scandiwegian stuff with subtitles, why not a bit of homegrown Cymraeg??

Cymru am byth!

Oh and Shetland was pretty good as well.

Thanks, quite a few to give a view.

There is something special about a well written brittish drama/movie. IMHO

The Fall was top notch. Made even better by some scenes being shot up the road from my in-laws house. They could see the cameras from their front door and had letters around about scenes involving gunfire. Really looking forward to series 2.

The Driver (on iPlayer catch-up).

Masters of Sex.

Our Girl.

I seem to be the only person I know who's actually watching this. The first pair of programmes earlier this year were a great set-up and despite there being something not quite convincing about the Afghan conditions, it doesn't look gritty or realistic enough. That said, the ensemble acting is superb, the issues are complex and the actress playing Molly is astonishing in the part.

I had to watch the last two scenes in the latest programme at least half-a-dozen times.

Real emotional stuff.

Penny Dreadfull, Not bad, sort of a "League of extraordinary gentlemen" feel to it.

(There's a fair bit of nookie in it)

I was enjoying 'The Driver' until he got mugged by a couple of silly girls.

I watched it. It wasn't too bad.. the young chap from Misfits is good.

That Crimes of Passion mentioned by C_G was utter fluff, whodunnit fare. Hot women, but not great. 🙂

Dezzie - I'm sorry you thought that! Did you not think it was rather nice to be transported to a world of [s]contrived[/s] sophistication where people dressed up and behaved properly? Made a refreshing change. 🙂

Forgot about Hinterland and its menacing skies and desolate landscape. Do hope there'll be a second series.

The Driver's ending was terrible

I don't know, it was nice for once that it worked out okay after the gut-wrenchingly bad decisions he'd made leading up to it.

But some areas that really stood out as painful - the first the 'tension' of the potential of a car not being able to drag a 12st person out of a hole and the rope (very thick) potentially snapping (utterly unconvincing) and the bits in the last episode when 'The Driver' was stood around in the room with the hardened criminals - surely a new boy (who is only a driver) wouldn't be in on such meetings at all. Then he was able to slope off to the toilet and his 'mate' could follow him in and proceed to have a big chat without arousing suspicion - this is a new boy and the slacker who'd just been beaten up for being ****less. Surely that would have set alarm bells ringing?

But overall I kinda enjoyed it.

yip the bits with John Harts character in the toilet didn`t work very well. The whole of the last episode was rushed IMHO.

With 15 mins left I was left thinking there must be another episode to go. David Morrissey was ace as he has been in most of the stuff i have seen. I remember "One Summer" when I was at school being great.

I don`t think it was a nice ending. He is ****ed now and the only positive thing is the return of his son.

And his wife will come back to him as he's been able to 'fix' the thing that was missing from their life, that she had blamed him for. Remember they did reconcile at her sister's so she wanted it to work.

Only just found out about this,it looks good.
Tried watching first episode of season 2, but not following at all.

This is something that annoys me about the iPlayer, stuff is never available long enough.
Why do the BBC not have the first series available on iPlayer?! Other channels manage to host more than one series of something.

Hopefully netflix will get it later in the year...

Loved it! Nice to have a 'period drama', set in living memory for many of us, which wasn't all gritty moodiness!
No real difference to Poirot, in fact.
Nice to see it ignoring all the stupid PC crap and showing everyone smoking continually, too. Proper period cars, that looked used, as well; Puck and Eja's little Prefect is delightfully well worn.
And as for Puck...
*sigh*

Started watching this today. 3 in and it's pretty good. Wife loves it and is amazed at the choice in music used.

Me and the 14 yr old are really enjoying Peaky Blinders. Well shot, acted, written and with Jack White thrown in as the soundtrack. Hoorah!
