The team my lad plays for is talking about a tour. Barcelona has been mooted.
As a proven fundraiser, they've looked to me to sort it. I'm not going to but I will give them some guidance.
So anyone done this? How much do they need to raise and what minefields are there to avoid?
Are you looking for general fundraising tips or football specific suggestions?
Fundraising i can do. It's the tour shebang I know nothing about
I have no knowledge of football but my (albeit limited) experience from other sports (basketball) is that choosing a smaller town will potentially yield a better community feel.. big towns will just have you stressing about logistics and feel quite impersonal.
What is the aim?
They just fancy a tour i think. Bonding too as they're moving to bigger pitches
Bit late for this year but there are some big tournaments for that age in Denmark
Are there companies that can organise this for you - obviously at a cost but as a first attempt might be possible?
Both our kids have done music tours in Europe, their music group use a specialist company who has a list of locations to stay and places to perform.
I was struggling to understand what op was asking , is it recommendations for football tournaments?
This is a link to a company that does packages and will give some ideas

Are they an affiliated grass roots team or just a bunch of lads that like to play football ?
It's a proper team, FA affiliated, and they "fancy going on tour". A few days away together, likely with a visit and a few matches.
As a grassroots coach myself, I can't even start to imagine headache of taking a team abroad and all the responsibilities that'd bring to (at the end of the day) play a couple of games of football. Team bonding activities are available in this country too or is it the coaches who have a sense of grandeur and see premiership sides going off on pre-season tours etc?
Jnr FD went here when he was playing higher level grassroots teams. I am sure other clubs will do similar.
However none of them really enjoyed it. There was 1 training session with their own coaches and 1 match. They could have done that at home.

Kids do love tournaments though and many do like playing teams from other countries.
