Displeased with the supplied tyre inflator in my wife's car I'm looking for something with more oomph!
We currently have of these things, which isn't much good for my SUV (prepared to be lynched from the SUV thread).
null

I was wondering if there was any half decent inflators, just to keep an eye on the tyre pressure, or should I just buy a 6L compressor and be done with it, I'd probably use the air duster gun thing for cleaning out carburettor jets, so that would be handy, but 90% of the time it would sit unused until once a month to top up the tyres.

Thanks in advance,

Do car tyres normally need topping up so often?

You're supposed to check them reasonably frequently, even if its to confirm they don't need topping up. By the time a tyre looks low its very low.

Tyre pressures in my SUV tend to change depending on how much I'm towing. During the summer I tend to change the tyre pressure twice between the weekend with the trailer and the weekday with the commute.
I think I would be better off with my track pump than the thing my wife has in her car, I used to use the garage next door but we've now moved to the a**e hole of no where.

Your track pump works fine. Might take a little while topping up.

Most modern cars have the tpms system and show the the pressure in a menu so easy to check.
+ fresh rims do not leak so any pressure loss should be investigated as its likely a nail or similar.
A proper compressor is nice to have , but I would get a 24l minimum if you have the space, quite cheap £100 and will do a lot more than a tiny one, or just get a 12v pump one about £20.

We've a Ryobi pump for tyres, use it when towing the caravan so can adjust for load when we get to destination if away on a holiday not just a weekend. Also does anything inflatable. Runs on the Ryobi One system of batteries.

No use for carrying in a car but a Stanley 24L compressor is one of the most useful tools in my garage. Comes with loads of tools including a paint sprayer, tyre inflator, spray cleaner/degreaser etc. The most used tool is an air duster. The tyre inflator with a brass presta adaptor is brilliant for tubeless tyres. About £90 2 years ago from Screwfix. I've since bought an air powered nail gun for it which has proved really useful too.

Hoping that the Aldi one is good as I ordered one this week to replace my 15 year old 12v one.

Its a bit loud whilst running but its never let us down when popping on tubeless. The one in the camper has saved a few peoples races over the years.

If a car needs a tyre pumping up at work, we either run it round to QC and use the airline, or if that’s not convenient we get the one out of the boot or if it’s got a spare or the previous owner has swiped it grab one from the nearest car with one in. They work perfectly well, they’re just a bit slow and noisy. I’ve got one in my car which cost me £10 from the nearest garage when I had a slow leak. Takes between 5-10 minutes if the tyre is very soft, if it’s maybe 5psi less than 5 minutes.
Not bothered about paying more than that.
