Anyone know if two bikes and a 66cm wide roof box would fit on a berlingo?
Bars are 135cm wide, so I'm thinking it should, but just checking before I pick up a bargain roofbox
Bike carriers are atera giro af+
Possibly...on the edge with 1 facing forward, the other backwards, should leave just enough space for the box, but suspect it'll be tight.
I have my berlingo set up like this right now. Slim roof box down the middle, one rack on either side. You have to take bikes off to open the roof box but it just fits. Wouldn’t work with a standard/wider box. Pic from last year here:
Could the box be mounted vertically. Perhaps utilizing bike clamps. I see you can get uprights to fit on roof racks, that could provide a vertical bar for the box to mount onto 😕
I've got 4 bike racks on my partner
135/4 is 33
If you put a bike on each extremity and the box in the middle in lieu of the 2 middle bikes. it might go but it'll be an ergonomic nightmare.
Is it that much of a bargain
You can get longer roof bars? You could loosen the headset and rotate the handlebars. Not sure a vertical box fit is a good idea, all the stuff will fall out? The box could overhang at the side a bit? Careful on weight limits for the van roof. Roundabouts can be interesting with a heavy load and high on the roof.
Looks like it might just squeeze in.
I'll give it a punt and if it doesn't fit, then I'll just move it on.
I managed it with a 69cm wide roofboox on a mk2 berlingo.
I thought the thread title was the opening line of a joke...
