I'm 6 episodes in (cheap now tv subscription)...I'm no diehard Lynch fan but like most of his stuff and loved the original series.
I am just NOT getting it. IMBD gives it a decent score but most reviews are dreadful.
Is it worth sticking with?
Yes, IMHO
It's hugely different from the original series. I absolutely loved it. I can understand why lots didn't. It's hugely polarising.
Yeah an interesting one. I think Lynch went deliberately even by his standards a long way from the original concept - that it was irritating and drawn out. But it did have its moments.
However I think some fans would've appreciated something more in keeping with the original.
Plenty of great moments though and off the scale bizarre.
Lynch really doesn't give a stuff about pandering to anyone though.
The best thing about Twin Peaks in my opinion was Fire Walk With Me.
It delivered and was pretty terrifying at the time and at least they kept to the timeline.
Hmmm. I enjoyed the original series because it was erm.. original. It was a piece of drama way ahead of its time and set the scene for countless copies which now are the norm within this type of genre. So when the new series came along it was hard to replicate the feeling, because that feeling has been replicated so many times since.. so it’s all become watered down.
I found it interesting and entertaining, it’s worth hanging onto the rest of the series.
It's certainly not for everyone. It might not really be for anyone - not even those who enjoyed the first two seasons.
It's a piece of televisual auterism that will probably not be repeated. It was worth watching for episode 8 alone. That was fabulous.
As another poster said, it exists in the Fire Walk with Me universe so if you enjoyed that (which I'm not sure is the right word) then stick with it.
Oh - and I think it only works on a weekly broadcast format so you can think about it. Binging doesn't work.
Is it worth sticking with?
I didn't and I don't feel like I missed anything.
