We have a Panasonic HDD Recorder and the Remote is playing up. All functions work except the one we really need 🙄 Can't access the TV guide to record anything, well it flashes onto the screen then disappears, sometimes staying on there long enough to record something. Does this sound like the Remote is borked for definite? Just tried new batteries, don't want to spend £23 if that maybe isn't the problem?
I guess this method of recording programmes is old hat now? What's the current way of doing it? Happily chugging along with our 2nd hand £70 telly 🙄 our viewing mainly consists of recorded stuff rarely watch anything as its broadcast. I'm of the opinion a flash new telly won't improve the quality of the programmes anyway 🤔
Is it constantly asking you to update the channels? Ours does this everytime it turns on and it takes 1-2 min to clear, during which time F-all remote commands will work.
If the EPG flashes up then disappears that sounds more like a problem with the box. Are there any physical buttons on the box itself which might be stuck down? Or the usual, unplug it for 30 seconds and try again.
gifferkev ours has a message saying new channels found please retune. That makes naff all difference 🙄 Just tried to take it apart to try and clean contacts, seems to be superglue together 🙄Cleaned everything I can access, got it working (for now) 🙄
google model number and replacement remote. Can sometimesbe available quite cheap (or sometimes not)
If the EPG is flashing on and off quickly I wonder if the button is sticking a bit -and the HDD is registering that as two clicks - one to open the guide and another to close it again
It used to be the case that replacement remotes were prohibitively expensive but a new remote for my Humax only cost a tenner.
With your existing remote - often you can see the IR transmitter thing flashing when you view it with the camera on your phone - looking at the end of the remote through the camera press various buttons and see if the signal is visible - if it is try a few presses of the EPG button and see if its continuing to signal after you've released the button. Older camera phones seemed to be better at it seeing the IR - my current iPhone can only just see it.
My first step with remotes it take them apart and clean whatever manky liquid has made it onto the contacts or indeed the hole causing it to gum up as described above.
