Ignoring the politics, will Sky Q work on my TV? Â Ours is "full HD" for what its worth but 7yo, and I'm confused with all the Ultra speak... Â Â Just need to know if installed we can watch it without needing a new TV.

This, you'll get HD but wont get Ultra HD.
"Full HD" is 1080p - ie, a screen resolution of 1080 lines.
"Ultra HD" is 4k - ie, a screen resolution of (somewhat counterintuitively) 2160 lines.
The Sky Q box can supply 4k but you can read that as "up to" 4k, it'll scale back to your TV's capabilities. You'll need a new TV if you want to watch in 4k, in the same way you'd have needed a new TV to watch DVDs in HD if you only had an SD TV.
