My swap from Virgin Media to BT has hit a snag!
I don't have a TV aerial so I dont think I can now receive Terrestrial TV or Freview. Previously this came through the Virgin.
I really can't be assed with a new aerial and assoicated wiring. Will one of those interal powered aerials be upto the job? Any other options?
Thanks
They do OK- we've three, one in the conservatory and one in daughter's room, one in son's. The little flat ones do work OK. We have got good reception and line of sight to Winter Hill over 30 miles away.
"It depends." I lived on the cusp of Winter Hill - all the aerials changed direction like four doors up from the house - and indoor aerials were useless. When we moved to DTV I had to upgrade the roof aerial to get a decent signal (and I was likely less than 30 miles away and WH isn't small).
Other options, Internet streaming. NowTV and a supporting cast of dozens.
Put your details in here and it'll tell you what you're likely to need: http://www.wolfbane.net/cgi-bin/tvd.exe?
We got an aerial installed last year as new house was Sky only. Took a guy about an hour to install an aerial in the attic and run some coax outside the house.
We also got an aerial installed when we moved into this house about a month ago as the place was Virgin only. Incredibly painless experience and much cheaper than expected.
I doubt this is applicable, but if there's an existing dish on the house you could go FreeSat.
Thanks all. Looks like i need to bight the bullet and install an old fashioned aerial as I do not think any streaming offers terrestrial TV.
It turns out BT do a subsidised aerial installation sevice for £30.
