As it says really. I'll pick this one.
Tango is what comes to mind, Aviva Paul Whitehouse too.
Edit: Boddingtons
I liked the Hamlet Cigars one that was split into three mini ads (beginning/middle/end of the break) with the Aborigini throwing boomerangs and they didn’t come back. So he smoked a cigar and they all came back. Or was it a beer brand?
This one too.
This one because it made me appreciate not having to cycle on cobblestones or eating brown bread.
"I ate a hundred packets in a day once."
"Accrington Stanley - who are they?"
Don't need to post the videos.
Always partial to Chewits and I like this one most for the Barrow in Furness reference
The NZ Toyota Hilux ad
Annoyingly youtube seems to think this is an advert for Tennent's Lager. It's not, it's an ad for Caledonian Best. It's Frankie Miller singing I liked both of them
Sorry, but I can't endorse the op's selection...
If you look at the last bit you'll see that the kid is riding the wrong way into a one way road.
#bloodycyclists etc etc
Not strictly an advert, but, years ago, watching Poltergeist 2 (IIRC) in the cinema. There was a scene where an Indian Chief (again, IIRC) was sprinkling a circle of white powder on a room to keep the Poltergeist at bay. Then someone in the cinema chirped up with:
'Do the Shake n' Vac, and Put the Freshness Back'!
Totally ruined the moment, but the whole audience burst out laughing. 🙂
For me..
Carling (Dambusters)
Guinness ( Surfer)
and Boddingtons (Trollies)
all got it just right
Sketchy film quality ,but I like the 'Dancing man' one as he looks like my pal Harry
Not a fan of car adverts, but this VW independent films one always makes me smile
Cigar ads are pretty good. Why did I never take up smoking them?!
Another amazing Honda ad
Ref cigar advert an original mini Mini that had been considerably widened drove past me this morning and I thought of this…
There's a bit of a theme running here 😂
Sorry, only skimmed the thread but for me it's:
"We hope it's chips, it's chips."
"With mild clean, fairy liquid"
But....
The best were the government ones telling us to close a farm gate or not to touch high voltage pylon lines etc.
Honourable mention the the "world's first natural born smoker" and the Aids one too.
Jeebus, the AIDS one terrified me as a kid in the 80s.
Now AIDS is classed as a manageable disease, utterly incredible how far science has come.
Panda kitkat ad.
I'll probably embed these wrong, but.....
Full Moon.....Half Moon.....Total Eclipse.....
I still do it with my daughter every time we eat Jaffa Cakes. I haven't shown her the ad though so she probably wonders what the hell I'm on about.
The Wa'er In Ma'Jorka......
Not a TV advert, but this Peugeot 106 GTi advert is brilliant
The series of Leeds Building Society adverts with George Cole.
Genuinely witty, creative and memorable - better than some of the shows they were shown in between — and from a marketing POV they always included the key product features.
I love the two Guiness Ad's but this is still the king of all ad's EVER :o)
Oh and I would pay to have been in the first meeting where this was pitched to the Cadbury team 🤣
God Almighty, there's some absolute belters in that lot, including all the ones I'd thought of. Keep 'em coming
Oh, JAG just beat me to that one
Some great stuff above...
This blew my mind when I first saw it in '83, wish there was a better quality version available.
Absolutely awful lager but did some great ad's
total black humour (hoax ad)
You Buy One, You Get One Free! I say You Buy One, You Get One Free!

Came to post Guiness Surfer and Hope its chips it’s chips but beaten to it.
Also, I’ve been in a few earthquakes and the Trevor Mr Softy advert is always how I describe the experience to people.
Some classics here, this one is bonkers!
"Washing machines last longer with calgon"
Simple, explicit and in your middle age you will be glad you took heed
Don't be a Twit-You, Leave Electricity Alone.
Thank you Wise Owl
(Courtesy of Inside Number 9, Series 7, Episode 6 which I have just put on to watch). 🙂
Oh and Marko against the pint. You'll never lose
The mention of washing machines has reminded me of that bloody Ariston ad.
Of all the adverts i have been exposed to, it has to be the Cadbury Gorilla. it's the only one i can really remember. Unless you count some kid being fried for flying a kite near a pylon.
Of current ads, probably this one. Just me ? 🙃 😊
Pretty much any Irn Bru or Dr Pepper ad
Ah yes the Cinzano and Heineken were good ones.
How about public information films?
No mention of any of the Weetabix adverts yet?!
I'll not link to it because, well, you'll see if you search for it on youtube, but a guy called Crobin did a parody of a Tic-Tacs advert called "4 Calories". At the time it wasn't made particularly clear that it wasn't an official tic-tac production and hilarity ensued.
Great soundtrack, very memorable, not very corporate, probably nsfw.
I can't find it on the 'tube so I don't know if the "Nice one Cyril" bread ad that spawned the football chat would tickle me as much now as it did in 1972 when I was 14.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nice_One_Cyril
I also like the Guinness "dancing man" ad. I used to play it in lectures I gave for many years as an important case about Dramatic copyright was about it.
For mash get smash
Some great shouts above. I also loved this one:
^^...and an early acting gig for Russell Tovey 😉 👍
The Heinz ad ..not the penguin 🤣 🤣 🤣
Thought of a couple more
Not a favourite, but certainly elusive.
I recall from sometime in the late 80s an annoying series of adverts for a car manufacturer, I think it was Vauxhall, that had an annoying young sales lad named Harry, and his patronising boss would chide him with the strapline "Never joke about money, Harry".
Google seems to have no reference to it whatsoever. Am I imagining it?
Used as a listening exercise to demonstrate contractions:
Other Maureen Lipman BT ads availaible.
