I’m thinking of turning my ‘shed’ into a 2-bed holiday let and wondering if any of you have any experience of this? Maybe in time it will become a granny flat for our parents.
The detached shed was built about 4 years to building standards (fully insulated, elec, etc) and is approx 60sqm.
We are a corner plot and the shed is on the road side away from neighbours (as a consequence I’ll be looking to soundproof one side of the shed from the road). We have a driveway for up to 5 cars.
What are the planning implications? Do I need to go for a full planning proposal or is change of use just a shorter version of the planning complications.
We are in N Cardiff and there isn’t that many self catering accommodations in the area but the ones that are here seem to be busy and have very good reviews with location being one positive. We will be aiming at families, (no boisterous groups but unsure how you deduce this beforehand,) like ourselves, who want a city break in the suburbs. There are plenty of events in the city centre and there is also excellent cycling from the door and it’s only 20 mins to the Beacons.
Any advice/stories/nightmares welcome!
