Is it just me, or is this place super quiet these days?

Oldest post on the Chat forum front page 7 hours old & the oldest front page item on the bike forum is 8 hours...

The GDP output of the UK must have risen drastically recently

I think the upgrade followed by performance issues has pushed quite a few people away.

I'm still annoyed by the rubbish on the right of the screen that is worthless to me and no apparent way to remove it but things are getting better, the top bar is back for one!

I was expecting it to be really busy over the snowy period as people couldn't ride but it seems the opposite has happened.

Also the fact that it is harder to find posts you have engaged in means less old posts getting bumped back up to the top and staying alive.

I‘ve noticed it’s a wee bit quiet, the forum does have a few small niggles, like when I get to the end of a sentence and tap return, I don’t get an automatic cap to start a new one, which I always used to get, and it puts a line space in as well, which isn’t so much of an issue, but it’ll often not put an apostrophe into words like it’s , instead giving me its, again which hasn’t happened for ages, my pad’s spell-checking sorted it out pretty much every time.

Perhaps the new format needs some time to settle in, I used to get all sorts of annoying things happening but it gradually settled in, so it’s probably just time needed again.

Oh, one other thing, after I’ve started typing into the reply box, I can no longer go back into the body of the text to copy text for a quote, I have to post, then edit to get the text into the post.

I’m still annoyed by the rubbish on the right of the screen that is worthless to me and no apparent way to remove it but things are getting better, the top bar is back for one!

I still have no idea what this is, I can’t reduce the size of the page to be able to see anything, perhaps it’s a desktop thing, I only use mobile devices.

I’d agree, much quieter indeed.

I’m still spouting the same crap, to less of an audience it seems.

Still want to keep the running thread alive though, I love reading how folks are getting on...

Fewer posts.

I think it's all good, not once have I had to apologize for a drunken after hours post as I simply cannot be arsed to try and check what bollocks I spouted the night before. 😀

Can anyone recommend a forum similar to what this one used to be like?

There is a Facebook group, apparently.... it has something like 1200 members... maybe all the fun is being played out in that field.

I too spend less time here, its so annoying trying to find the threads you posted on/were interested in. To be very honest, I like spending less time here. It was never exactly positive.

After the complete abortion of the upgrade I'm not surprised the membership has dropped off.....

I stopped even looking at it at home as it was unusable on Safari. Does seem to be readable now, but ridiculously slow....

All I’ve seen on the STW Facebook page is “thanks for the add”

So it looks like it’s just an advertising space.. with a few pics of snowy bikes..

It's a ploy to discern your true identity so they can post adverts to your house.

Personally I believe the politicising of virtually every thread by the usual culprits at almost every opportunity, has simply pissed a lot of people off!

It's quieter for sure and there are a few regulars who seem to have disappeared.  For me currently right now it's also running really slow so also less of an incentive to browse.

New forum is crap

if there was somewhere else to go I’d be gone but apathy and a few old threads hang in there

STW used to be able to answer even the most obscure questions

The New forum would probably struggle with an A headset question and it would just die unanswered.

STW has become Mlehworld a self fulfilling prophecy of a parody of mockery of a sham.

As far as I can tell from Mark's posts and from personal observation, the site is busier than it's ever been apart from a few big hitters declaring that they're cancelling their membership because the font has changed.  Which TBH is no great loss.

Poor site performance is well documented, it's because the current host can't cope with demand and STW is looking to relocate.  Ditto search and forum history, it's a work in progress and the issues well known.

I'm going to close this thread as a duplicate, we've done this before and it descends into the same points which we have a sticky for.
