[Closed] Tubular heater in a shed ... worthwhile?

Hi, I've a 20' x 7' shed, well insulated that is a workshop. It's position in the garden means it doesn't get much sunlight. But it's well made, and doesn't suffer damp, but often it's very very cold in there! Currently, I use an oil filled radiator as and when I'm in the workshop (each day, but length of time varies).

I've a 45w tubular heater that's spare. Is there any benefit of having the little tubular heater going 24/7 (and/or adding a couple more) to reduce the need of the radiator having to be switched on as a much, and help preserve the shed(?). Or would its output be insignificant?

And if I did run it, are they cheap as chips to run? What sort of cost?

Cheers

Units of electricity are in kilowatt/hours. Running a 45w heater for 24hrs would use approx 1.08 units.

But they aren't really great for heating a shed tbh

I looked into those for the car and even joined a few facebook groups dedicated to them.

They're like the wild west years of LED bike lights, except with tanks of diesel attached. There are tens of different brands, and everyone is the best and all the others will catch fire, kill you with CO and murder baby robins according to the owners of the other brands.

Possibly the least reliable/noisiest way of heating your shed.

I have a couple in a reasonably insulated brick garage. I use them to keep the temp above freezing, but they do not warm the area, I use an electric fan heater for that.

I've got one that I use to put under the Ebike to help dry it off after it's been washed.
Its good for that but would be useless for heating the garage.

I don’t think the tubular heater will make much difference- I use them under stainless benches for beer brewing, but, for keeping temperature reasonable in the workshop I have an oil filled radiator with a thermostat. I set it to it’s lowest output, 1Kw when I’m not in there and the thermostat to around 5 degrees. If the outside temperature is warmer then I open the door! Keeping the temperature stable is key to avoiding condensation and damp. Hope this helps.

I have one behind a freezer and fridge to keep them working when it is really cold. They do nothing to heat the place

45W is/was the rated consumption of a rather dim light bulb, until the more modern ones came along a few years ago. Fairly cheap to leave on, but I can't see that you'd get a fat lot of heat out of it, esp in a shed that size.

...worthwhile?
No. I wouldn't use a tubular heater for an airing cupboard never mind a shed.
An electric towel radiator is better if you come across one that's going spare and is low wattage, but you really need a proper heater
