Heard good reports so waiting for it to finish to binge. There is talk of season 4 having Cohle and Hart involved again too which would be awesome.

i'm not overly keen on the jumping between years, when it cuts to Hays looking moody it's not always clear which of the early era Hays it is.

I'm catching up at the moment on episode 4, I'm liking the subtle links back to the 1st season.

It's a wonderful slow burner. The acting, especially as old geezers, is brilliant. No overacting like the crappy Oscar nominations! Who'd have expected Stephen Dorff to be so good.

I did have to google to see if he'd had a job since playing Deacon Frost.

Thought's on this after it's finished? The last episode was a bit of a letdown compared to the previous 7. Overall better than season 2, not as good as 1.

It was a slow burner and the ashes kind of died in the same way. Probably could've done with a firework thrown on the embers (to stretch a metaphore...) to go out with a bit more excitement. But overall, superb. Some on another thread said Tin Star was too slow for them - Can't imagine them sitting through True Detective!

It's so slow, I can't even remember if we've watched the last episode yet!

Hate to be a cliched radio times reader, but I cannot understand a word Hays says. Got the volume cranked so everything is deafening but still can't make out huge chunks of dialogue!

It's your age, happens to us all! It is exacerbated by the more "naturalistic" style of dialogue in a lot of modern productions though. Subtitles can be intrusive until you get used to them but they are available, I tend to favour headphones as a way of getting decent sound without annoying the uninvolved.

I missed a few bits, so put the subtitles on & rewound. Couldn't leave the Sky subtitles on though, cos they were HUGE!
And right, why do they have things like "Breathes deeply", "coughs", "start car" etc. when you can clearly see the person is doing that?! So irritating.

Loved the low key ending and the heavy irony that he found the girl at the end but was unable to comprehend his achievement .

Very good overall and was much better for being in the same vein as series 1 . The development of the characters being the major part of the story .

Odd, the NowTV ones on catchup are fairly discreet.

I thought it was superb and right up there with series 1, I like the way it peaked with the incredibly tense ep06 and ep07 and then wound down through the finale. I think it's safe to assume that Henry would get to the bottom of the case in an official capacity.

I really enjoyed it.

I liked the fact the 'mystery' was secondary to the growth and developement of the characters. I agree the timeline jumps were jarring at first, I settled into after the second epsiode.

I was really invested in the whole thing, thought the acting was superb.

I'm going to rewatch series one this week.
