'Not a huge amount' is relative. What's your actual budget?

I've got the basic model and it's a great bit of kit for the price.

One of these http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/82276/show.html

I bought one a couple of weeks ago after reading that someone else had recommended it from another site.

The 55 is often touted as being the cheapest 'pro' capable tripod by serious photographers in the know, with the smaller 190 coming in just behind for less demanding duty.

And Manfrottos are available secondhand for reasonable money fairly frequently - or at least they were when I got mine. Remember you need legs and head separately though.

Have a look at Ffordes secondhand stuff for ideas.
