You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
For the last year or so, whenever I've been anywhere really good, I've made a point of writing a glowing review on Tripadvisor.
I've just done one for Rik's Bike Shed at Drumlanrig, and the trails he looks after.
According to my profile, I've got 16 badges, I'm a level 3 contributor, 5000 readers and woo-hoo, I've got 1793 points.
Other than that it gives me a sense of enormous well-being (and then I'm happy for the rest of the day) what can I get with these points?
Can I spend them? I've never booked anything through Tripadvisor, I don't know if you can. We always use airbnb or Expedia. Can I use them to buy new bike bits?
from their forum...
Not sure what you mean by redeem points. You can't transfer or translate them into anything of value or any discounts. The new TripCollective points thing in your profile with the points and badges are just supposed to be for "fun" according to Tripadvisor. Here is a long topic on it in the link below. Most people feel it's just juvenile and doesn't mean anything -
Do points have monetary value?
TripCollective points do not have monetary value and cannot be redeemed for anything.

Basically it means that you can trust the review of a high pointer more than the general idiots posting (my cheap 2* hotel wasn't as good as the 4* one for twice the price etc. there was no parking in the no parking available hotel)
I'll give you 50p for all your points
1793 "Smug" points 🙂
Maybe if yopu get enough points then accomodation owners come and seek you out and offer you free stays? Seems to work for b/vloggers who get to 'N' readers/viewers?
3,953 smug points here and 23 smug badges 🙂
I've never even visited the Tripadviser site.
All your smug are belong to us.
it gives me a sense of enormous well-being (and then I'm happy for the rest of the day)
