Been slapping on decking oil at evry stage
Need to
brace the legs
Railings
Chop down front posts
Attach slide (got a bargain off ebay)
Ladder. (And climbing wall at some point)
Cladding. Ply is tempting but loglap looks great if pricey
Roof, ply, with the dragon scale look felt tiles
Door, window across front
Cheap g clamps from eBay and cheap B&D electric saw) jigsaw from b and q have been awesome
Anything I've missed?? Anything in doing wrong?
Anything I've missed??
Well, you've missed the tree, but apart from that great work 😀
slide?
did something similar in our garden earlier in the year - also known affectionately as 'the wine terrace'.
I built one years ago for my nipper.
I put an 8x4 sheet of ply up one side and made a mini climbing wall (you can buy the bolt on rock thingies on ebay).
A trap door in the floor with a cargo net down to floor level.
I wired power in there via armoured cable for lighting and TV. Took a spare output from our TV booster under the grass to it.
A winch with a little crane out of the side and a metal bucket on the end. Hours of fun winching up supplies (sweets etc).
Found an old wooden ladder and used that for easier access for the really young kids.
I extended one of the main horizontal braces out from the side and installed a swing from it.
^^^^ id not get that one past my local H&S inspector.... the wife
interestingly there was a thing in the BBC news about a father who did the same - and because it was next to the fence liek yours the local authority ordered it be removed .....
well ive cleared it with the neighbours, hopefully the LA wont be bothered!
Might benefit from a bit of triangulation depending how deep the posts are. Actually it should still have some or as the thing settles in it might develop a lean.
nice one kimbers 🙂
few questions if you dont mind me asking. is it treated wood youre using, tanalised? and why decking oil at every stage? you mean youre using decking oil on all the wood, not just the decking? and are you painting it on with a brush or you spraying? (im looking into spraying all my wood, thats why i ask)
keep up the good work.
triangulation ?
triangulation ?
I think he means cross bracing.
Also, I've reported you to the authorities for exploitation of child labour. 😉
Ive just been using decking oil, coz i had a free tin! mostly on the cut ends
I just used a sponge to slop it on
Ill have to treat/varnish the lot afterwards
yeah Im planning to cross brace the legs
And sorry to be pedantic, but it isn't actually a treehouse. It's a house next to some trees.
😉
