I've been tasked with looking into a new treadmill for the gym on an offshore survey/ROV vessel I work on.
No idea where to start really.
Budget up to a max. of £5K and needs to be suitable for a busy gym. Needs to fit a footprint of 2m by 1m.
We'd like to have Polar HR connectivity, the ability to program to run on distance or time, ideally a built in fan but not too bothered by music connectivity since everyone uses headphones on account of cabins nearby.
Anyone any recommendations for UK suppliers? What brands do you see in gyms? Anyone bought similar?
I only use the gym at work as a means to an end!
Cheers, Paul
Treadmills on the survey boats I worked on were frightening \hilarious in any sort of weather. Get a nice elliptical instead and bolt it down fore-aft?
Was going to recommend the Life Fitness ones out of our work gym but just checked they're £17k 😲. The Lifefitness Activate is their simpler one with polar connectivity but it's £8k. Anyway as treadmills go they are very nice to run on, solid and reliable.
I have no idea if they are worth if over the ones that claim they are commercial quality but 1/2 then price.
If you can find Life Fitness within budget and spec, then go for that.
We have them on our boat and they seem up to the job, and, more importantly, repairable!
Cheers for the replies - I'm aware it's a pretty niche subject.
Yeah, Life Fitness are big bucks. There are places that offer refurbished ones for a significant saving so that could be a goer.
The search / research goes on for now.
