I know nothing about treadmills but my wife has informed me she would like one.

How much do you need to spend for a good one (I was thinking £500??). Space is an issue (in MY garage) so would like one that folds up against the wall if possible.

Are we married to the same woman with the same budget? I asked this exact question last week, still not sure what to get.

Edit: including the comment about your garage.

my wife has informed me she would like one.

I was handed down a similar edict.

I was thinking £500??

Only a maniac buys a new one. We got one off ebay for ~£50 (IIRC). It works well enough, She's used it twice in the last 2 years, I've used it a bit more...
They're annoying big bastard things, normally cluttering up a spare room or Garage and barely used, people don't want to post them, so just see what used treadmills are available in a 5 mile radius.

I've just been given similar instructions but my Mrs wants one of those elliptical cross trainer things. They look bloody massive, vary wildly in price and I'm not sure who's going to carry it up to the 4th floor.

I got a second hand one for £500. Was £1250 new and the onboard software said the owner has used it for... 5km! That's £150 per km 😬

If you can wait then keep your eyes peeled for a local secondhand one, I'm sure as summer kicks in and th weather improves people will be selling the ones they bought at the start of lockdown.

Ps. I put 500km over 5 months in winter on it then sold it for £500 so the depreciation curve is steep but flattens out well

Managed to pick one of these up on local Gumtree for £550:

Certainly a case of 'it looked smaller in the picture'!!

Looks good though, high quality and looks like it can connect to Zwift Running as well.

It will probably be up for sale in a couple of months.....!!!!

I use treadmills at work (offshore, survey ships) - I can't wait to get home and run in the real world!

It seems to be harder to run in the real world - I guess treadmills are glorified bouncing...

Genuine question but why does your wife want one (especially in your garage!)??
