Looking at the viability of travelling to Bespoked this coming weekend.
It's being held at the Lee Valley VeloPark.
I'll be travelling down from Suffolk. I was thinking of driving and parking at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre then walk on over.
Looks to be a short walk.
Any suggestions?
Seems reasonable. It's about a 15 min walk
Yep, I've parked there for London Stadium stuff, it's a similar walk from there. There's a few car parks at the Westfield, the eastern one would be easiest. Else there's a big multistorey just off the A12 that's a bit nearer.
It's inside the ULEZ zone, so £12.50 to pay if your car isn't compliant. If it is then nothing else needed.
The other alternate is to follow the Stratford > Hertfordshire rail line, park somewhere along it and get the train in.
You could park outside my house for free and be at Stratford in 25 mins.
Lee Valley VeloPark
Cheshunt station has public parking next to it, in the parkland next to YHA Lee Valley. It is then a cycle path or few train stops Stratford.
Edit: I use Lee Valley YHA regularly to run training from.
Me and Mrs did a road ride (L'etape London?) from the velo park in 2017, and the recommended car park was Stratford International Car Park.
It's cheaper than the Westfield shoppers car park, and same distance (or closer) to the velo park.
Balls.
I'd forgotten that the ULEV zone had been expanded. That's tipping the favour towards train but that takes forever door to door.
Will check out the train route suggestions above.
Thank you.

Cheshunt to Stratford is 24 minutes. You won't do it that quick if you drive in. It might take you 24 minutes just to get into the Westfield parking.

YUp, did that when we last went... 15 mins is about right, the station was quite busy though as most people did exactly the same thing.
Same here, Suffolk to Bespoked on the Saturday. My plan was to park at Harold Wood for the day (£3) and tube it to Stratford (£2.50 each way).
I did something similar for london marathon a couple of weeks back.
Used shenfield. Was £6 parking, 10.20 to excel and back, and pretty quick into Stratford.
Guess it depends if you're close to the to of the A12 or M11.
Can you bring a bike in? Drive to somewhere along the canal path (which from where you're coming from, would be pretty easy), and then ride in. It's a nice pootle along the canal, you can have an explore of Olympic Park on the way back too. No traffic to navigate once you get near there either
Ride there? I'm getting the train down from Preston with my Brompton and riding from Euston to Lee Valley on the Saturday. Apparently there is 'secure' and 'patrolled' bike parking for the event, just need to take your own lock
Borosilicate .... Has the right answer, if UGAZ is an issue (otherwise your original plan can't really be beaten)
Harold wood station is about 2mins from "bottom" of the A12. While the "tube" is actually the Elizabeth line and is a lovely aircon overground route with trains every 8 ins or so.
Your walk from Stratford station is a good 15mins but easily doable for a fit cyclist (cut through Westfield :))
Have Fun

That's a very short train! Or is it the gap between trains? 🤔 either way, it seems problematic...

Don't bother with the canal towpath, as it'll be packed on a Saturday.
Noted - think I touch it just before the Olympic Park, otherwise I'm actually in Victoria Park or roads.

I'll be going from my house to the train station then stratford in about 40 mins
I’m heading down tomorrow, hoping to have the strength to be there on Saturday too but I’ll have to see how it goes after the way this week has been. If you do spot me, please say hi, it’s always good to put faces to forum names!
