So we just planning a trip to New Zealand for next year and want to take two bikes with us.

Plan is to fly into the Auckland and out of Christchurch three and half weeks later.

Finding a way to transport the bikes with us is proving to be a bit of nightmare and costly especially the one way charge.
Any suggestions on how to do this or who and what to look for rentals. Thanks.

Apex Rentals can be picked up and dropped off on different islands and include a ferry booking, they were the cheapest option last time I was there, also look into possibly hiring for longer than you need as the daily rate drops and you can drop earlier than booked.

Our daughter is out in NZ at the moment. She flew out with Air Canada and the stopover was in Vancover. Cost her £65 extra to fly the bike.

Original plan was to start in the North and finish in the South, before carring on to Canada for a while, so she bought a car on arrival.

Thing have changed as she has lined up her dream job riding everyday so she will probably stay longer. She's loving every minute of it

She didn't take alot of luggage as she would have been always on the go.

She has bought a second bike recently which at some point will need to be sold or fetched back home

@stevemakin Just tried Apex and they were cheaper and adding an extra day reduced it by $100 nzd which was a bonus, thanks.

When I flew Heathrow to Auckland 2019  my bike was allowed within my luggage limit.
Just checked my ticket, it was 30kg allowance in two bags, it was allowed that one bag was a box. So I didn't pay any extra for a bike box
It was through Philippine airways. I was only flying one way so I'm not sure if it was loads more expensive than a return ticket.
On that note, I'd you take your bike you need to make sure it is clean as new! They will go over it every closely in the airport.

I assume you’re committed to car hire? Along time ago in NZ it was easy and cheap to travel by coach with bikes

So could you hire a car in Auckland and return it. Then bus to Christchurch to do the same
