Has anyone travelled to France via Geneva Airport recently? Any issues or tips to make this easier?

I'm looking to get a hire car on the French side, which seams cheaper, and hopefully easier from the border point of view. Car hire on Swiss side seems insanely expensive right now.
Thanks

Don't convince yourself it's easier to hire on the French side from the border point of view. The Swiss side cars have the motorway vignette for Swiss Motorways, and the airport has instant motorway access, including to France, and the border crossings are fine. Some destinations (esp in the Jura) it can be OK (where are you headed?) but as a rule of thumb if you are asking here, it'll probably add a lot of hassle to hire on that side.

If it's a lot cheaper though go for it, but with your eyes open!

Most hire companies on swiss side only seem to have electric cars, or are just a huge amount more expensive. I've hired there plenty of times, but the prices seem insane this time around.

I'm heading to the Vercors for a few days, then Les Saisies and back.
