I have worldwide yarly insurance through my bank but they exclude any whitewater rafting.

A quick look on moneysupermarket reveals most companies only insure up to Grade 3......we're going to Canada in a months time and will be spending a full day on upto Grade 4+.

I'm tempted to chance it.......but prob best to get some insurance - anyone recommend somewheer to look rather than trwaling trough every one thats popped up on MS.com?
thanks

Have you had a look at the "activity top up insurance" from https://www.sportscoverdirect.com/activity-topup-insurance/

It supplements your existing cover whilst undertaking that excluded activity.

[edit] a day's "Rafting Grade 4/5" looks to be about £20 with a £90 excess [/edit]

If Canada is anything like the US, you will sign something with the organisers to confirm you have insurance (and take full responsibility etc.) before you are allowed out. Can't the underwriter add it on to your policy through the bank for a supplement? Otherwise try the winter sports specialists.

I've used snowcard and dogtag for grade 4+-5 kayaking in the past.

I just bolt on a kayaking policy from Perkins Slade for mine. It used to be adrenaline travel insurance / PS Sports travel, have a google but seems its all under Perkins Slade now.

http://www.perkins-slade.com/for-sports/sports-quote/travel-insurance

There is another new company offering similar - look on www.ukrgb.co.uk. A lot of the usual i.e. dogtag, snowcard, bmc etc are good for policies but not as good if you already have one and just want to bolt something on.

Try

tgic-online.com
jsinsurance.co.uk
coverforyou.com

Think insureandgo will also cover it for an extra premium

We had a similar exclusion through our policy with the bank (HSBC). Spoke to the underwriters (Aviva in that instance) and purchased an extension through them for a longer trip and wider activities.

I never thought about any extra insurance when i did the Zambezi #1 through to #19 and most of them grade 5 with Shearwater rafting - but they did offer you insurance for the run if you wanted. The 5 day self supported kayak trip on the Zambezi was awesome as well.
