One our sprogs had a bit of a wobble at school, months ago, ended up in A&E followed by referral on the paediatric ward. We have been waiting for the feed back to the investigation (heart rate, blood pressure, etc) since November. Both of the feedback appointments have been cancelled at short notice by the department. We assume they aren’t too concerned about him as they haven’t prioritised the feedback.

Any ideas where to get legit travel insurance, as all the usual sources won’t insure them without a diagnosis?

We used sportscover direct and explorer before and they exclude anything like that. I can't imagine many insurers will insure an unknown starting position.

Non standard requirements -> speak to an insurance broker.

Travelinsurance4medical are who we use, my son's 9 years into on & off chemo and we've been able to travel in Europe during treatment and to the USA when in a break usually about 25% cashback on topcashback too, so well worth going through them.

Good luck finding an insurer. Couple of things to consider:

1. If the week before you are due to go the hospital call and offer a cancellation during your holiday would you be prepared to disrupt holiday rather than wait 6 months for the next appointment?

2. If there was to a repeat of whatever the "wobble" was, whilst you were in a foreign country how would you feel about managing that? Obviously shit can happen to any of us for the first time when we happen to be away, and people who have chronic conditions cope with crisis abroad but a second occurrence might be bad.

So, if it were me I'd be debating with myself how important that holiday was (or that destination - covid proved we don't need to go abroad to get a good holiday in.

We have been waiting for the feed back to the investigation (heart rate, blood pressure, etc) since November.

After seven months, you should be getting feedback one way or another. It's worth having a friendly chat to the consultant's secretary to see if there has been any progress. You'd like to think the delay means that there is no issue, but with the current state of parts of the NHS, who knows?

In some areas, results of blood tests/investigations are automatically sent to GP electronically or via letter, so may be on the primary care record, so you can ask for them.

I think you will struggle with insurance unless you have some kind of resolution/diagnosis/all clear, but a specialist broker is the only route I'd take, or you'll definitely be getting 'computer says no' type answers.
