Thanks to brexit for the first time in my life I might have to get some for a european tour
will anyone insure a cyclist for 3 months touring?
Anyone to look at?
Not answering your question, but get a GHIC card before travel insurance
Were you relying on an EHIC card before?? If so you can apply for a GHIC which has a similar arrangement with European health services. Having said that I would still get some basic insurance as it wouldn’t cover repatriation for example
Ah ta. I hadn't realised there was an equivalent to the EHIC. Yes thats all I ever used and IMO all you need
I'm not sure a GHIC card would cover you if all your gear got nicked TJ. *
It's not just health cover you should think about.
* Imagine the carnage if anyone tried to rob TJ!
My kit is all insured anyway under my house insurance but I should check for time limits
Never used travel insurance - its such a rip off
Never used travel insurance – its such a rip off
That’s true….until you need it
Edit: perhaps I should explain. One of my relatives had a very simple accident in Rome- she tripped on a kerb, fell awkwardly and broke her femur (and no not a fragility fracture due to age) Her EHIC covered most of the cost of treatment( not all- you should check out what different countries do cover) but she required specialist repatriation at considerable expense. She was very glad she had spent £50 on insurance.
The only thing it covers i do not have is repatriation
Its a rippoff

More helpfully, if you want help, yellow Jersey will do what you're after. I'm currently traveling for a similar length of time and they covered me no bother.
If you just want repatriation cover, you'll just have to Google it yourself as it'll not be a standard product.
given the gihc card exists that I did not know about and that all my kit is insured anyway then i won't take out any extra insurance.
STW helps again tho so ta
Third party cover is worth considering, if your household policy doesn't cover that.

One thing though, if you are booking flights and accomodation independantly, rather than as a package and a flight gets cancelled, you could still be on the hook for accomodation, for example.
Make sure you home policy covers you for being away for that long. Some have a maximum of 30 days away from the home.
