We’ve recently borrowed a neighbours BBQ for a camping trip and it was perfect, the legs came off and stored inside, the lid doubled as a windbreak and when not being used as a BBQ it made a perfect table to cook on (using the gas burner). It was bought from B&Q, but is no longer available and I can’t find anything like it. Does anyone know of anything similar available?

This just reminded to have a look for one like that, my sister has one and it makes a good fit pit as well.
Just seen this one on Amazon that looks quite neat.
Weber go anywere no messing it's a full lidded BBQ that work great and is bullet proof.
yep, great bit of kit, packs down quite neatly. (Get a chimney starter as well though.) A BBQ needs a lid... the two suspect looking items posted above are clearly just grills... At least they’re not claiming something gas-powered is a “BBQ” tho 😂Weber go anywere no messing it’s a full lidded BBQ that work great and is bullet proof.

That weber above is ace 😄
yeah, that looks like something Dr Who would have follow him about 😃Like this you mean?
I'm in the same quandary. Currently using a Cobb but it's more like a slow cooker in the fact that it seems impossible to burn anything. You can overcook stuff but not burn it!
Been looking at the Weber Go Anywhere & the Smoky Joe, but also the Tower Briefcase bbq. It packs down really neatly & gets great reviews. It's around £50 but Argos do a copy version for £30.
We use a weber go anywhere and have added a small pizza stone as it gets easily hot enough for decent pizza. Ideal size, like a medium toolbox when shut so easy to fit in on a trip.
I don’t see the point of the Smoky Joe personally, the GA is a much more efficient shape for a small BBQ and really easy to zone.Been looking at the Weber Go Anywhere & the Smoky Joe
I use the little Weber above minus the gas burner, it's great especially when combined with the small chimney starter.
Weber just brought out a new gas 'BBQ' that folds down and has a built in trolley to wheel it about. Looks quite neat but it's over £400.
Weber go anywhere charcoal here too. Belta bit of kit. In laws bought me it a couple of years ago and it’s been hammered on camping trips and sometimes in the garden when I don’t need to fire up the bigger Weber kettle. As above, chimney starter essential - I just use the full size chimney I have.. takes up a bit more space in the car but well worth it. Hadn’t thought about a pizza stone for it but I’m gonna!
Go anywhere better than smokey Joe - wish I had the go anywhere as will fit better in a car than smokey joe

Pro tip.
The Weber chimney fits inside if you cut the rack in half. It also allows you to mix things up like stick larger lumps of meat on one side.
Weber Go Anywhere here too. Had mine about 10 years and it’s still going great. Just enough room to cook for four in rounds over indirect coals so you don’t burn anything.
We have a go anywhere. I now use it instead of the normal Weber bbq when it is just the 4 of us having a quick bbq.
Josh vegas- I was going to post the same advice! I’m on my second go anywhere in 20 yrs or so. It’s great.
However - considering the gas version as a lot of french campsites ban charcoal bbqs. Don’t know if I can cope with the change to gas though!
@JEngledow Frosts garden centre at Millets Farm have the gas go anywhere in stock. Lots of the gas ones but not sure if anymore charcoal ones as I just picked one up as I'd been looking for a small BBQ.
Still a grill though.
Barbeques need a lid unless you are just doing burnt sausages and burgers.
I have been known to grill on my tiny hive stove but that's a bit small...
Agree with all the comments on Go-Anyway.
Was cooking some BBQ for 4 person yesterday using and comparing both my Weber Go-Anyway (non-gas) with Smokey Joe Hands down Go-Anyway wins by miles. Easy to cook, store, clean etc. Now I just need to find a small cast iron plate for the Go-Anyway. Starting the fire was also very for Go-anyway as the ventilation is better.
PSA - B&Q has a 50% off deal on all BBQs at the moment (although you have to be a B&Q Club member - free to join - although the online registration isn't working today).
They have the Smokey Joe in stock but not the Go Anywhere - I'd have got one otherwise.
I love my little Prakti Rocket stove. Good for grilling as it only needs a handful of charcoal let down to the right temperature. But also great for sticking a decent pan on for a good fry up.
Using it now for some cracking pork and leak sausages from a local butcher.
yep saw that via HUKD earlier - although despite saying lots was in stock for delivery, it wouldn’t actually let you buy most items (the comments in the thread bear this out). I think it was really just aimed at clearing out stock in actual stores, if there happened to be any stock near you (not the case with me!) I did finally manage to buy a big Weber gas grill though at a frankly ridiculous price! Not as good as charcoal obviously but probably more convenient for parties where you don’t want to have to be glued to the BBQ the whole time, or just firing it up quickly for a spot of impromptu outdoor grillin’.PSA – B&Q has a 50% off deal on all BBQs at the moment

barbecue
/ˈbɑːbɪkjuː/
noun
a meal or gathering at which meat, fish, or other food is cooked out of doors on a rack over an open fire or on a special appliance
It's a bloody BBQ!!
Cadac safari chef fan here - much more than a bbq but maybe not big enough for some, packs well, works well.
Not sure if you can still get them, but I love my Son of Hibachi travel BBQ. Not the biggest, but as long as you use both sides and therefore dont have a lid, it will cook for 4-6 people (burgers+sausages).

So much more that it's not even a BBQ at all 😛
It is a kind of tedious Mac Vs PC type thing but I have nothing against gas grills - I can defo see the point, but for me it's not a BBQ.

Yeah what I really meant is it ONLY grills.
Hey,
I'm actually pro cobb. They take getting used to is the way I look at them. Originally I was in the camp, that I paid for something that didn't work. I switched to cobb stones that sort of worked but were expensive. Now I'm using coconut husk cubes mixed with charcoal and it works really well. The good thing is in campsites that don't ahem allow charcoal BBQ's in France they don't notice the cobb 😁 the thing is you can get away with using the cobb without the plate that sits on top of the cobb and it works quite well the charcoal mix gives the same flavour, plus for campervaning it's quite compact and small.
