Looking to just add a bit of privacy to the garden and have come across a monkey puzzle tree on eBay - it's about 30 miles away from me & it's a whopper.

Any tips for transporting - I'm thinking either hire a trailer, or a flatbed?

How big do you think it is? Or am I falling for your facetiousness? They are quite an open tree which become mostly top as the lower branches fall off. Scotts pines will give you privacy for longer and sooner.

Apologies; the combination of description and the picture just tickled my simple mind. 🙂

Privacy and Monkey Puzzle don't go...I've got 2, well 1 now as the other was removed as it was dying but also it was huge, branches at first floor height of house but not below so very open. Second one is totting up top and will be removed at some point in the near future...

Certainly not a tree for privacy, as others have pointed out.

Araucaria araucana (commonly called the monkey puzzle tree, monkey tail tree, Chilean pine, or pehuén) is an evergreen tree growing to 40 m (130 ft) tall with a 2-m (7-ft) trunk diameter. The tree is native to central and southern Chile and western Argentina.[1] Araucaria araucana is the hardiest species in the conifer genus Araucaria. Because of the great age of this species, it is sometimes described as a living fossil. Its conservation status was changed to Endangered by the IUCN in 2013 due to its declining abundance.[2]

If you're getting one that size, you might as well pick up some seeds (if there are any trees in the vicinity) and grow it yourself.
