I had an SD card reader that plugged in that worked well for a bit but then died, how else can i transfer pics from an SD card to my Iphone/back to the SD card/

Or Google photos if you just want to be able to see them on the phone. If you upload them as good quality (not original) then they won't count towards your storage quota.

Having reread your post I'm not sure what you're trying to do?
Are you trying to do this without a computer? What's the source of the photos on the SD card.
I assumed you were just moving from an Android phone to iPhone and wanted a one time way of taking your photos across.
